W.R Dunn was appointed directly by H M Prison Service to provide detailed design services for the strategic redevelopment of the healthcare facilities at HMP Long Lartin. This incorporated a new drug treatment regime, the Integrated Drug Treatment System (IDTS). We identified areas in the prison suitable for conversion into medical rooms.
Alongside the IDTS project, we were asked to design a scheme for the complete refurbishment of the inpatient unit. The client required a complete overhaul to create a more suitable healing environment for patients.
By working closely with the prison service, we were able to assist the project in receiving a grant from The King’s Fund, resulting in a collaborative approach to the project between the design team, PCT representative and establishment.
