Historic Building Consultants

Our Historic Buildings Team is managed by Richard Dunn, a Chartered Building Surveyor, who is accredited by the RICS in Building Conservation (one of only 58 nationwide).  In addition, the practice is also included on the Department of Culture Media and Sport Specialist Conservation Advisors List.  Our conservation experience has developed over the past 25 years and focuses on all types of historic structures ranging from Listed Buildings to Scheduled Monuments and buildings of special interest.

We are able to provide considered and experienced professional advice to allow sympathetic repair and maintenance programmes to be implemented. Typically, during the pre-acquisition and/or pre-refurbishment phase, we can evaluate a structure, before producing historic building fabric, building survey or feasibility reports. Our intervention at the early stages can highlight the building’s key attributes and advise on opportunities and constraints for development.

W R Dunn & Co Ltd. work closely with experienced conservation building contractors capable of delivering appropriate new build and repair solutions. As a Practice we are also members of the York Consortium for Craftmanship and support the organisation's aims of maintaining conservation skills through training and apprenticeships.

Effective property management of historic buildings is paramount to retaining the appropriate longevity of our built heritage.  For this reason we provide a competitive, professional service to assist clients within the commercial, residential, agricultural or industrial sectors. Our impressive project portfolio is varied and includes many spectacular examples of historic architecture. For further information of our completed projects, please refer to the case studies section of this website for individual project summaries.
