WR Dunn & Co, in partnership with Interserve Construction Ltd. (ICL Southampton), won a mini-tender bid for a new Energy Centre at HMYOI Portland.
The new Energy Centre has been designed with full resilience and capacity to accommodate future development within the prison. The scheme also contains a CHP unit to provide a green source of energy for the prison and help to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Full Planning and Listed Building Consents were obtained for the new Energy Centre. This was achieved by working closely with Weymouth & Portland Borough Council to develop a design that is functional, whilst being sensitive to its surroundings. The building is of modern appearance using Portland stone for the walls and zinc roofing, which predominantly feature within the Establishment.
