WR Dunn & Co was instructed to carry out a Condition Survey of York Theatre Royal by York Conservation Trust, after they acquired the property, and prior to commencement of a major internal refurbishment. This quickly led to the preparation of a specification for extensive re-roofing, external repairs and contract administration of the works on site.
The works consisted of replacement of the slate and lead coverings to the Victorian pitched roofs and renewal of the flat roofs on the design acclaimed 1967 extension, designed by Patrick Gwynne. The contract also included upgrading of insulation and replacement of roof lights, including lighting features and roof windows.
