W R Dunn & Co was appointed by the Diocese of York to assess the condition of the existing Georgian vicarage within the village of Skirlaugh. Following an assessment into the required maintenance and repairs, it was decided that a new vicarage should be constructed on vacant land adjacent to the Grade I Listed St Augustine’s Church. Our role was to detail and design a scheme to obtain planning consent and carry out contract administration of the works on site.
We designed a contemporary new four bedroomed detached property, in accordance with the parsonages design guide and the client’s key criteria for a comfortable home in close proximity to the church with semi-private study, lobby and disabled WC for parishioners to visit. The scheme was developed in conjunction with design advice from the local Conservation Officer, client and Architect, which influenced the traditional exterior.
