The project has involved the sensitive phased programme of improvement, conversion and extension works, to this Grade II listed public house on the outskirts of York.
The initial phase provided an internal redevelopment of the main dining room, complete with sensitive structural improvement works and internal reordering.
The second phase included a masterplan approach to the sites future development, providing multiple conversions of the outbuildings for staff and visitor use, together with a complex internal reorder and, partial demolition and new build kitchen extension to provide contemporary facilities within the listed setting. The external barn was converted to provide private dining, whilst the rear and main entrances, WC facilities and kitchen were all reordered, adjusted and extended to provide a holistic approach to the redevelopment.
The project was undertaken with complex planning, listed building and commercial sensitivities, with the close down period for the pub retained to 4 weeks only over the typical post-Christmas closure.
